HORSEBACK RIDING/Renegade Trailhead

Enjoy the natural beauty of McKinney Roughs Nature Park on horseback, whether you're a beginning rider or an expert! More

One of the most special things about Hyatt Lost Pines is access to nature, and one of the most spectacular ways to view it is on our well-trained horses through miles of trails in adjacent McKinney Roughs Nature Park. You'll start your ride at the rustic, lodge-like Renegade Trailhead, located on the resort property.

Depending on your skill level, choose from 45-minute to 2-hour trail rides (all times approximate). Your knowledgeable guide will entertain you with interesting facts about the area and the indigenous wildlife you may encounter. Gentle ponies are also available and provide young riders with tours of the resort grounds. Check with our Resort Reservations at the Cardinal Point Interpretive Center for dates and times for all rides and special requests.

Private and Group Horseback Tours are also available. You and your guide will plan which trails you will explore as you meander through pecan and oak trees on historic lands originally granted from Stephen F. Austin to early Texas pioneers. This is a great way to commemorate an important date with a loved one, as well as a distinctive reward for outstanding members of your staff.

Please note: For your safety, guests must wear long pants, preferably jeans, and closed toe shoes. Children ages 8 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, rider weight is limited at 250 pounds. A 24-hour cancellation policy is enforced.

Archery Lessons are now available upon request. All skill levels welcome.
