Hooves, Horns and Hoss

Our resort mascots are officially part-time employees at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. Chances are, you'll run into Texas longhorns T-Bone and Rib Eye, Percheron draft horses Julius and Caesar, and landseer Newfoundland Hoss during your next stay with us. Be sure to check their schedules on this month's recreation calendar so you won't miss them!

T-Bone and Rib Eye, our Texas longhorn steers, are as friendly as their horns are long (59 inches and 56 inches tip-to-tip, respectively). Cowboy Randy and Miss Paula help them get from one place to the next by saddling on top of their backs and steering them in the right direction. These guys spend most of their days at Hyatt Lost Pines posing for pictures with guests in their saddles. You can find them at the hitching posts around the property or at their second home in the Lost Pines Pasture. Don't forget to bring your cameras when you stop by and give them a big Texas "HOWDY."

Julius and Caesar are a sight to see. This duo of Percheron draft horses tower over 17 hands tall and each weigh over one ton! These gentle giants earn their keep toting resort guests around the grounds in their rustic red wagon. Come early to claim your seat and meet our fun-loving steeds. They'll pick you up at Riversong Lawn just outside the lobby, and take you around the beautiful and Lost Pines grounds, then back around the entire resort.

Hoss is the newest member to the resort mascot team. This black-and-white Newfoundland pup is just a year old, but already weighs 125 pounds! Don't let his size fool you, Hoss is as gentle as a teddy bear and loves to meet and greet resort guests. Stop by his house on the Riversong Lawn porch or find him at Miss Paula's side in the big red wagon, and say "hello."

Horse Drawn Wagon Rides/Tractor Hayrides

Perfect for couples, families or groups, our horse-drawn wagon rides and old-fashioned tractor-pulled hayrides are great ways to explore the resort property. No reservations required. Check the weekly Recreation Guide for a schedule.

Night Hikes

Guided by a McKinney Roughs Nature Park’s naturalist, experience nature at night! Call out for Eastern Screech and Barred Owls. Use a bat detector sonar reading device that picks up high pitched sound waves bats use for echolocation. Most bats found in this area are Mexican-free-tailed bats and are seasonal. Identify indigenous plants and animals along the trails. Hikers hone their observation skills and learn how vegetation provides habitats for a variety of organisms. Discover a nocturnal world as you stroll through the hushed wild and listen to the critters active at night. Night goggles are available to share. All ages are welcome. Reservations are required.
